“It has come to the attention of the Trustees that there is a rumour that the Winsford Centre is unsafe.
This is completely untrue.
The building has suffered, like many others, from the ongoing extreme weather and over the Christmas and New Year period a leak appeared in the room which the history and gardening clubs usually meet.
That made the carpet very wet at one end. Repairs to the roof cannot be undertaken until there is a spell of dry weather. Excess water is being removed from the carpet as necessary using powerful vacuum suction.
In the meantime, there are other rooms available for meetings which will hold up to 30 people comfortably. The Garden Club’s next meeting was not, in any case, scheduled to be held at the Winsford.
The Trustees were recently pleased to learn that the Parish Council has decided to move some of its meetings to the Winsford Centre.
Anyone who wishes to offer practical help in maintaining a unique Grade II* building is very welcome. Please drop in on Thursdays, when the building is always open.”
